Cleveland Engagement

Engagements are fun.  You know what's even more fun?  Surprise engagements!  A few weeks ago, Carly and I had an opportunity to shoot a surprise engagement in the Flats.  It was our first session like this and boy was it fun!  Carly worked out the details and logistics of the shoot, but we ended up on the boardwalk of the Flats East Bank [this area is newly revitalized and pretty awesome if you haven't been down there to check it out!].  I was posted up along the railing of the boardwalk looking across the river anxiously awaiting the sweet couple, Zack and Jessica.  We did this on a Friday evening and the lighting was absolutely dreamy.  Everything went off without a hitch and we got some really awesome shots.  Congratulations to the happy couple!

Briahna's Creative Cleveland Senior Session

Last week I had the pleasure of working with 2016 Valley Forge senior, Briahna.  Planning for her session was a lot of fun.  We talked a few weeks before so I could get an idea just what she wanted to get out of her session.  The first thing she said to me, "I love Cleveland.  This is where I'm from."  This got me really excited, because well, I love Cleveland too!

She initially wanted to shoot her session downtown but with the upcoming RNC and movie filming happening at the moment, she wasn't able to really get to where she wanted to go so we had to come up with a backup plan.  After putting our heads together, we agreed on starting our session in Gordon Square.  This eclectic little neighbor just outside of the city boasted some really awesome architecture and cool little storefronts that made a perfect backdrop for her Cleveland-themed session!
Don't believe me?  See for yourself.

This shiny black brick wall was a pretty awesome find.

Sweet Moses = YUM.

After we walked the streets and found some pretty unique spots for pictures, we ended up in front of Superelectric Pinball.  As we were standing outside we couldn't help but notice all of the bright colors and vintage decor that was filling the inside of this place.  It peaked our curiousity enough that we both wanted to go inside and check this place out.  So naturally, we did.  The guys inside were super cool and let us take some pictures inside for a small fee of $10 per photo.
Just kidding. Although Briahna's face was pretty priceless when one of the guys jokingly said that.

This place was a mecca for vintage pinball machines.

This place is pretty cool, isn't it?  I promise I wouldn't lie to you!

After we killed some time in Gordon Square, Briahna decided it was time for an outfit change.  Kudos to her, as she did this in the back of her care with her mom and grandma barricading the windows with trash bags.  While she was changing, I was scoping out the area for another inspiring location.  Low and behold across the parking lot I saw an old church with a great porch and two giant wooden doors.  It was calling my name!  It was the ultimate backdrop for Briahna in her simple white dress and paired beautifully with her guitar.  See for yourself!

We finished up our session over at Edgewater Park.  We were trying to get those Cleveland feels, you know, because it's summer in CLE!
Did you know that Cleveland has a pretty awesome beach?  I know you're probably laughing right now but seriously, for being pretty far north and on Lake Erie, it's pretty and I like it.

All in all I would say our session was a great success.  Briahna got some awesome pictures and she was such a natural in front of the camera, she made my job incredibly easy.  Congratulations to Briahna!

We Are Back!

Hi everyone -- we've missed you!  If you can't tell, it's been about a year since our last blog post.
Yes, it's really been a year.  I'm sure you were wondering where we've been (and if you haven't just pretend so it makes us feel better, ok?).

While our hiatus took a little bit longer than initially anticipated, the time away was just what we needed. We have taken this year to really grow our business and really grow ourselves as photographers.  Since starting this photography journey, we now have a website that is up and running [you should check it out :) www.bcgphotocle.com] and our work has improved leaps and bounds.  We have been able to upgrade some of our gear and have much more experience under our belts than we did a year ago.

I guess I just wanted to take a second to thank everyone -- friends, family, clients -- for really supporting us on this journey.  Offering kind words of encouragement and thinking of us when you need someone to capture your memories.
Although I can't say I'm really too surprised by this.  We are super fun to work with but I might be a little biased.  Just sayin'!

I hope you will all continue to watch us grow, as I'm positive we still have a long way to go to get to where we want to be, professionally and creatively.  But until then, sit back and enjoy the pictures that we so love to take!
